30(+1) Day Song Challenge Day 9 : “A Song That Makes You Happy” & Day 10 : “A Song That Makes You Sad”

(Damn woman, 2 days in a row??? Get yourself & your time management together…)

Um… So… Let’s just ignore the fact that I’ve skipped two days of the challenge, and highlight the reality that, out of every theme in this 30 days challenge, the ones we’re combining today are the polar opposite of each other! Extraordinary! Peculiar! Any Adjective That Expresses Oddness!

The meaning of a song is never absolute. Every person would’ve interpret it according to their own accumulative events of experience. Most of the time, those songs would mean a bunch of other occasions all at once; that also includes the memories and the shared feelings. For instance: You’re listening to a song you used to listened with your grandmother who passed away; those memories behind it were lovely and precious, but it will also forces you to remember the ugly truth that she’s not coming back. It became sad, because we know for a fact that those memories are fleeting away and they will not come back, no matter how hard we tried, ever. So, my choice of Sappy (Sad happy) song of the day is Love Like You by Steven Universe ft. Rebecca Sugar

My initial response to Love Like You is, “Dang, will someone ever heard of this song and think about me?”

Love Like You by Steven Universe ft. Rebecca Sugar

Long story short, I can not not Love this song; the melodies soften my heart, lyrics so raw even my sashimi loves it, and it’s very relatable for everyone who’s deeply fallen for someone.

But one day, this song turn its back on me. My sister put this song in her playlist dedicated for her best friend who just passed away. Once she put it on play, all the new perspectives came rushing through my brain. She was crying, crying, and crying almost everyday. All the pretty stuff I associated with this song before, were torned down & devastatingly slapped my face. This was a particularly hard time for my sister, and I couldn’t stopped crying.

Until this day and for another long time, I’m only going to smile when I listen to this song. Because that’s what it deserves, a nice, warm finale.
